Withing the frame of the Sustainable Environment: A key to sustainable life project, a total of 12 teachers and educators participated to the second pemaculture training course in Penagos, Spain. From July 3-8, participants mixed theoretical and practical knowledge about the development of agricultural ecosystems intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient.
As hosting organization, Permacultura Cantabria, organized the training activities and cultural visits for each of the 6 training days. Thanks to the support of a permaculture teacher, the participants focused on the 12 permaculture principles, the relationship between trees, bacteria, fungi and each element of the ecosystem, the importance of restoring and regenerating habitats and ways to change our own consumer behaviours. The course also helped participants to put in practice existing and newly developed sustainability competences.
The main objective was to learn to transfer knowledge of permaculture theory and practice among collegues, students and families with the aim of making a real change in the entire community. Another important aspect was giving an idea about how to recover and redesign areas or objects in a way that teachers and students become more ecological and nature friendly in different aspects of life.
The newly trained permaculture teachers will be able to teach students how to grow their own food using organic, biodiverse and low-cost methods.
The final meeting will be held in Turkey. Stay tuned for more updates!
