First Transnational project meeting of READY4I5

The Ready4I5 officially kicks off with the first face-to-face meeting in Tartu, Estonia, 13-14 of February 2024 where partners from Poland and Italy were kindly hosted by Tartu Vocational collage team.

This project is framed within the Erasmus + 2022 – Key Action 2 – Small scale Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training programme and has a budget of 60.000,00€.

The Ready4I5  project comes at a crucial time when Industry 4.0/5.0 is increasingly vital for businesses and companies around Europe and beyond. Recognising the strategic benefits of applying Industry 4.0/5.0 mechanism and process within the companies, the project aims to educate people on the importance of transformation towards Industry 4.0/5.0. The knowledge and competences in this field will be necessary for professionals employed in different sectors and industries. People should be aware of the impact the industry has on the climate and know how Industry 4.0/5.0 can help reduce this impact for better future.

The project consortium consists of:  Association for Innovation and Education (AFIE) (Poland- coordinator), Training 2000 (Italy) and Tartu Vocational College (Estonia)

During the meeting the project partners presented their own organizations and contribution to the project. The project results and related activities were presented and agreed upon. Moreover, plans for future have been made and a future meeting has been planned. The next task at hand involves gathering interviews from local entrepreneurs and managers to assess their current understanding and implementation of Industry 4.0/5.0 in their small and medium enterprises (SMEs) manufacturing processes. These case studies will be used in a comparative analysis across three countries to pinpoint areas where European SMEs lack and need improvement in applying Industry 4.0/5.0 within their companies.

During their time in Tartu, the partners had the opportunity to tour A le Coq Brewery, a leading example of sustainability and technological innovation in the industry. The company boasts a nearly fully automated production process, utilizing cutting-edge machinery and mechanisms supported by industry 4.0 technology. A. Le Coq has prioritized green energy and resource efficiency, investing in large-scale green initiatives such as harnessing heat energy from boiler house chimneys to heat production facilities.

Following their visit to the brewery, the team explored the mechatronics engineering department at Tartu Vocational College with VET teacher Rasmus Saar. This experience shed light on the school’s training programs in the industrial sector. These visits provided valuable insights into the local VET system and the integration of industry 4.0/5.0 technologies in a major manufacturing facility.
