STEP Project: Progress on the Methodology Handbook for Adult Educators

The STEP (Senior Tutoring – Educator Professionalization) project is making strong progress as partners are working to finalize the Methodology Handbook for Adult Educators, a key output aimed at supporting professionals who work with senior learners in community and educational settings.

The Handbook’s primary purpose is to equip adult educators with practical tools and pedagogical strategies that encourage the active participation of older adults in society. By enhancing their skills and confidence, the Handbook supports seniors in exploring new roles in volunteering, work, or self-employment, while also promoting a positive shift in societal attitudes toward ageing—framing longer life as a continued opportunity for contribution and growth.

Key Sections of the Handbook include:

  • Methodology Framework – Offers insights into inclusive, age-sensitive pedagogical approaches tailored to senior learners.
  • Practical Case Studies and Best Practices – Shares proven strategies and success stories from partner countries and across Europe.
  • Didactical Notes – Provides practical guidance on how to effectively deliver learning content to seniors using appropriate methods and tools.
  • Theoretical Background – Anchors the methodology in national and EU frameworks, ensuring relevance and transferability.

As final edits are underway, the Handbook is set to become a valuable resource for adult education providers and community professionals committed to lifelong learning and the empowerment of older adults.

The next phase is focused on the creation of training modules on 5 key topics: Lifelong learning in Europe, Digital Literacy, Prevention and Health Promotion, Social and economic integration and Political participation.

Stay tuned for its release and upcoming training opportunities through the STEP project!
