Whether it’s gaining new skills, exploring hobbies, or sharing life experiences, learning has no age limit—and neither do the opportunities it brings. The STEP -Senior Tutoring – Educator Professionalization project recognizes the value of seniors’ vast life experience and aims to harness this wealth of knowledge to strengthen connections across generations. By empowering seniors to continue learning, the project open the door to meaningful exchanges that can help bridge the generational gap and foster mutual understanding.
Why Lifelong Learning Matters for Seniors
- Personal Growth: Lifelong learning keeps the mind sharp, promotes mental well-being, and opens doors to new passions and skills.
- Sharing Experience: Seniors have a lifetime of knowledge and wisdom. By engaging in learning, they have the opportunity to share their stories and life lessons with younger generations.
- Stronger Communities: Learning together with younger generations helps break down barriers, reduce stereotypes, and create stronger, more inclusive communities.
How the STEP project support seniors
As part of the STEP project, seniors can take part in an online training course (48 hours) covering 5 key topics:
- Lifelong Learning: Understanding the importance of continuous learning and how it impacts personal growth and society.
- Digital Literacy: Gaining essential digital skills to navigate modern technology, stay connected, and access resources.
- Social and Economic Integration: Learning how to stay active in the workforce, volunteer, and engage in social activities.
- Political Participation: Exploring how seniors can have an active voice in politics, from voting to civic engagement.
- Health and Well-being: Focusing on prevention, healthy living, and staying active for physical and mental health.
The course is designed to be accessible and engaging, helping seniors build confidence in these key areas that directly impact their lives and communities.
Local and international workshops
The same topics will be used to organize local and international workshops. These workshops will bring together seniors from across the globe, allowing them to share experiences, learn from each other, and collaborate on new ideas and solutions for the challenges they face.
The STEP project empowers seniors to stay engaged, embrace learning, and contribute to society in meaningful ways. By joining this initiative, seniors not only continue their own learning journey but also help bridge the generational gap, enriching both their lives and those of others.
Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming training and workshop opportunities through the STEP project!
