The second testing session of the Ecotrade educational board game was held in Fano on October 22, 2025, with the participation of 20 students from Polo 3 Technical Institute. Students enrolled in economics, sustainable trade, and tourism programs contributed valuable feedback on various game design aspects. Teachers also took part, facilitating the playtest and actively discussing the game’s mechanics.
Building on the initial testing round conducted on October 14, 2025, this stage further stimulated motivation and dialogue about how Ecotrade can transform game-based learning in Vocational Education and Training (VET) across Italy, Spain, and Greece.
In the game, players assume the roles of international trade companies operating throughout Europe, strategically selecting transport modes—road, rail, water, or air—for their shipments. The success of each shipment and the points scored depend on event cards that influence shipment time, cost, and environmental impact.
Feedback from both students and teachers during these sessions will guide partners in refining the Ecotrade rulebook and trainer’s guide ahead of the international event in Miranda de Ebro, Spain, in November 2025. Following this, educators and trainers will be equipped to implement the game effectively across diverse educational and environmental settings.
Eventually, the complete game will be available as a free print-and-play kit on the project website. Moreover, a freely accessible online version will be developed to broaden reach, enabling educators, students, and professionals worldwide to participate digitally.
Special thanks to the teachers of Polo 3 Technical Institute for their enthusiastic participation and insightful feedback during the session.
