The Italian team prepares to carry out the FLIGHT case studies

On 25 September 2025, Training 2000 team, together with teachers from Galilei Institute (IIS G. Galilei) in Jesi (Italy) met for a pre-testing phase to carry out the case studies for environmental protection,  one of the five areas of the FLIGHT project (https://flight-vet.eu/) along with agriculture, water supply, construction and civil protection.

During the meeting, the team assembled several sensors that are part of the custom drone kit and conducted a series of experiments such as air quality monitoring, harmful gas detection (in particular carbon monoxide), UV ray measurement and the PM1, 2.5,10 monitoring in the air.

This pre-testing phase is a fundamental step in validating the technology and ensuring the reliability of the sensors in environmental monitoring applications. The experimental activities are an essential step before subsequent field tests at the local level.

These activities form the basis for the creation of ten educational case studies, designed to promote practical and advanced learning in STEM subjects.  The ultimate goal is to create the FLIGHT Manual, which will bring together all the case studies developed by the various partner countries, making them reusable in various learning environments with students.

Finally, the Italian team discussed the agenda for the  international training event to be held in Italy from 12 to 16 January 2026 that will see the participation of partners from Turkey, Portugal, Slovakia and North Macedonia.

The FLIGHT project responds to the need to update technical and vocational education to the challenges and technologies of Industry 4.0, focusing on the innovative use of drones and sensors to develop new digital skills in the strategic sectors of environmental sustainability and civil protection.
